Aviation Seminar Takes Off

The first in a series of aviation seminars was held in the conference room of the Aviation Centre on 6 June 2007 and was attended by 17 pilots ranging from 20 hours to 9500 hours experience. Present were different SPL and PPL holders, and pilots from Samaritan's Purse, Safarilink and Airkenya. A range of subjects was discussed, including:
• Access to Wilson from the west
• Conflicts between VFR and IFR traffics
•Radio communications
•SE and NE access lanes and their visual references
• Bird strikes and how to avoid them
•Use of GPS in marginal weather
•Emergency situations and how to deal with them
• Ditching
• Airspace definitions
